Ancora Place a National Finalist for Urban Affordable Housing Award

Earlier this week, Affordable Housing Finance (AHF) announced their 2025 shortlist for the annual Readers’ Choice Awards, and Ancora Place is among four Urban category finalists!
Developed by Satellite Affordable Housing Associates (SAHA), co-designed by PYATOK and Phillips Win Architects, and built by Cahill along East Oakland’s International Boulevard, Ancora Place not only introduces 77 new homes (including 16 homes for those exiting homelessness with a mental health diagnosis), but completes a half-block-sized community-supporting campus through its community room, retail space, and 15,000-square-foot landscaped at-grade courtyard.
What’s more, in collaboration with neighboring EastSide Arts Alliance and local Civic Design Studio, the project incorporates a block-long mural along the International frontage. The mural, SAHA Associate Director of Real Estate Development Carrie Lutjens tells AHF, “is a testament to the vibrancy and diversity of the neighborhood, the importance of local partnerships, and the Bay Area’s history of fusing art and activism through muralism.”
Thirty-six finalists were named for the Awards in nine categories, selected from applicants from across the United States. AHF newsletter subscribers are able to vote, if subscribed by Friday July 25. Voting closes August 13, and winners will be recognized at AHF Live: The Affordable Housing Developers’ Summit, November 17-19 in Chicago.Congratulations to the project team on this tremendous milestone – and particularly to SAHA and PWA who worked with us on the award submittal!
